Flora and Fauna

Along the way, many wild birds can be spotted such as Black Necked Swans, Ducks, the colourful Correntino Duck, hundreds of geese such as Cauquenes, condors etc. and a large array of animals such as Huemules (South American deer) on the sides of the path inside the national park of the same name, hares quickly crossing the road, raccoons, large herds of Guanacos near Cochrane, foxes and a great diversity of birds.

A very varied and colourful flora can also be observed like the Calafates with its beautiful orange-yellow flowers in spring, the ‘Notros’ or Little Red Plums, the colourful Lupinos in summer, the huge ‘Lenga’ forests with its orangey purple colours in autumn, the ‘Nalcas’ with its massive leaves and purple flowers throughout the year, the ‘Chilcos’ or Fuchsias with their pretty red bells.
